Short Biography of Peter Carter
Peter D. Carter, M.D.
Peter has been a family physician for over 30 years. He is actively involved
in environment, peace, and sustainable development issues, especially as
they relate to children's health. Peter believes that an ecological
revolution is occurring -- a renaissance involving the role of nature,
culture, spirituality and soul in developing an ecological,
future-sustaining consciousness.
Although we live in the "information age," Peter finds that knowledge on
environmental matters is generally very poor, and that our Euro-American
cultural institutions are working on the basis of an outmoded and
discredited cultural paradigm that is destroying the life supporting and
renewing capacity of the biosphere. In short, the future is being destroyed
though ignorance and insensitivity.
The new cosmological, scientific, psychological and spiritual discoveries
and understandings of the past century are not being incorporated into the
education facilities of our civilization.
Peter has appeared as an expert on behalf of environmental organizations in
environmental hearings and reviews. As a founding director of CAPE (Canadian
Association of Physicians for the Environment), Peter has presented on
sustainable development and health issues in Canada and the United States,
to government agencies and to universities. He has also appeared on the Discovery
Channel. His current focus is on the effects of global heat forcing
("warming") induced climate change on human health and development.
