What is the history behind this type of education (both sustainability training and the school without bricks and mortar concept)?
The program model is inspired by concepts like those behind the Invisible College in Kingston, Ontario, where people from the community offer expertise freely in an open format for shared experience & the Gaia University- where a group of independent private consultants offers services under a larger name brand umbrella: (http://www.gaiauniversity.org/english/ ). Both these ideas are blended together in Earth Masters scheduling. Several interns take care of the day to day operations with class arrangements & help to create a shared open service system of learning, with basic mentor training and micro-enterprise starter co-ops as springboard opportunities for eco-employment and more creative student projects. The goal is to enroll at least 60% teaching-interested students who will go on to share knowledge with other students, family and friends.
